Dior Show New Look Mascara Review

DiorShow have just bought out a new mascara exclusively to Selfridges! What makes the 'New Look' mascara different to previous DiorShow Mascara is the Nano brush, this extra small brush helps to get right to the root of your lashes and extend them. The soft spikes help separate each lash to prevent clumping.

I am using the brown shade which I don't normally go for, but I have to say I love the results - brown is so natural and because there is minimal clumping these could easily pass as my natural lashes! As you can see the brown is very dark and subtle. My lashes were noticeable extended! I also love that the brush coats from root to tip with the small brush. Although I do love big brushed mascaras I do find that some miss my roots on application.

As usual the packaging is beautiful and sleek.

Electro Pop is the new collection from China Glaze, and it's definitely my favourite so far! Every single colour is gorgeous and girly!

As usual the formula is perfect, every colour swatched below is just one coat (apart from Techo glitter, which is understandable as it needs building up).

They are slightly different to what I expected, I have used other lip pumping glosses and they have that stinging effect, whereas these don't - they feel smooth, like a normal gloss but still give that fuller lip appearance.

The colours are gorgeous, both Crystal and Icicle are lovely light shades whereas Vilu is a sulty darker shade. Vilu is described as a bronze on the website but personally I think it is much more of a plum colour. The colours can be built up to create a stronger or apply less for a more subtle colour.

They come with convenient LED lights in the lid, which is great if you're out in the evening and need to touch up your lippy! They also have a mirror on one side.
They are the perfect purse companion!

Philips Sonicare DiamondClean toothbrush review

I have always used a normal manual toothbrush, I never realised how inadequate they were until I tried the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Electric toothbrush, I was blown away by how clean and sparkly my teeth were - even after the first use my teeth were noticeably cleaner and whiter.

I normally go to a hygienist dentist every few months to get my teeth professionally cleaned, to remove plaque that a normal toothbrush cannot get to. After the first few uses of my DiamondClean toothbrush it had removed all noticeable plaque build up! I was honestly shocked, it's like a mini hygienist! I now don't need to go to my dentist as much because my teeth are so clean and white. Using this brush twice a day will give you amazing results! It also plugs into your computer!

It comes with a nifty chargeable glass which will conveniently charge your toothbrush after every use.

Two 'snap on' brush heads are included, one larger for all-round cleaning and one small to get right into each tooth gap. Diamond-Shaped bristles create more scraping surfaces to sweep away plaque.

The kit includes a charging travel case which has a USB connector, which is perfect when on the move. Plug it into your PC and it charges in no time.

The toothbrush has 5 cleaning modes: Clean, White, Polish, Gum Care and Sensitive.

I would never go back to a manual toothbrush! My teeth will thank me for it.

UV Gel Nails + OPI What's with the Cattitude Nail Polish Swatches

After breaking four of my beloved long nails I decided to get some falsies, after some research I was set on getting Gel nails - according to some they do not damage your nail as much as Acrylics.

I was at Westfields shopping Centre in Shepard's Bush, London when I saw Le Monde Nails. They offer an extensive range of nail treatments, I chose UV Gel - which I had never heard of before. The gel sets under UV light, giving the same effect as Acrylics. The results were beautiful.

After the technician applies the false tips, she then paints on the gel. In order for the gel to set it must go under UV lights. I put my hands in the UV light box, the sensation is very strange - the gel heats up very quickly and gets very hot for a split second. When I put my first nail in I found myself pulling my hand out quickly, the heat scared me! It only heated up for a second, so once I got used to the feeling it was fine.

The technician who was called Lam was extremely professional and did an amazing job on my nails. The only downside was the language barrier, many of the technicians are forgein and do not speak much English so they don't give you any after care or any facts at all. Although my technician did appear to speak more English than the others, I would have loved to have known how long they last, but I guess I will have to find out myself! (I will update this post when they come off).

I chose O.P.I What's with the Cattitude? Nail Polish (Shrek collection) for the colour, which is so beautiful! A stunning 'icy' pastel blue. I ended up buying it because I loved it so much!

My UV nails cost £50 and took around one hour.

I am in love with my new nails, if only they always looked like this!

Eyeko Mascara ~ Skinny, Fat + Curvy

I've been testing out these mascaras for over a month and I'm extremely impressed with them!

Eyeko offer three different types - Fat, Skinny and Curvy.

Curvy: The multi-action brush with tiered bristle clusters is designed to plump, define and curl lashes.

I love the results, although my lashes are extremely straight and never curl well - there was definitely a slight curl to them (you can tell at the ends). Very natural results.

Skinny: The thin brush allows you to get right to the eyelash root which is great if you have fair coloured lashes, it can be difficult to get to the roots with bigger brushes. I tried to build it up but it started to clump together, you only need two coats with this one.

Fat: The super sized brush coats and extends lashes for maximum volume. Although the brush is huge it's really easy to use and doesn't clump your lashes. I noticed a slight lift to my lashes also, Fat brush is definitely my favourite!

Easy Blueberry Cake + Cinnamon Sugar Dusting Recipe

I had loads of blueberries to use up, I wasn't sure what to do with them - my first thought was Blueberry muffins but then I realised I only had a cake tin....so blueberry cake it was!

The recipe I used is super easy and takes hardly any time to prepare.

The results are amazing, moist, fluffy texture with a light vanilla and blueberry taste. I also topped it off with a Cinnamon Sugar dusting, gives it a festive taste for this time of year!

Ingredients:

125g Butter

250g Castor sugar

2 Large Eggs

1 tsp Vanilla Essence

2 tsp Baking Powder

300g Blueberries (mash with a fork)

350g Self-raising flour

150ml Semi-skimmed Milk

Preparation:

Prep: 10-15 mins | Cook: 30 mins

1. Heat oven to 210'c, grease cake tin with butter.

2. In a bowl, beat Butter until creamy, beat in Castor sugar until pale and fluffy. Beat in Eggs, one at a time. Finally mix in Vanilla essence and Baking powder.

3. Mix in mashed blueberries.

4. Fold in the flour and Semi-skimmed milk, pour into cake tin.

5. Bake for 30-45, or until golden brown and not gooey in the middle. Allow to cool before removing from the tray.

I left mine in a little longer on a high heat to get a slightly crispy edge, there is nothing nicer than a moist centre and crispy edge (in my opinion!).

Finish with a Cinnamon Sugar dusting. Simply mix ground Cinnamon and Castor sugar together in a small bowl and sprinkle over.

Simple French Twist

The French Twist is a very elegant and classic hairstyle. It can be easily changed up, I prefer mine not so tight and slick but more loose and messy.

I love Kate Winslet's French Twist - keeping it a little messy makes it more fun hairstyle than too formal.

Kristen Stewart's twist is similar to the one I recreated it's very casual and would look great with any outfit!

Megan Fox's is much neater and looks very formal, this look is perfect if you're wearing a statement outfit and you need your hair to look polished.

Current Obsession: YSL Lipsticks

I am head over heels in love with YSL lipsticks.

They are full of moisture and the best thing for me is the 100's of colours to choose from. It's hard finding a good pink or peach (in a good quality lippy) but I have finally found them!

It does help that the packaging is to die for!

Big Hair! Nicky Clarke Volume Range

I recently tried out the fabulous Nicky Clarke hair styling product range.

I have been testing out the volumizing range which i am extremely impressed with!

First up:

Hold and Shine Ultimate Hairspray

This is my favorite all time hairspray (and I've tried a lot!). It gives amazing volume when used with backcombing, it also keeps curls in really well. The formula dries quite hard, which makes it perfect for backcombing but when brushed through it leaves a softer finish that keeps your style in place.

In the photo above I've got 'second day' curls after using the Ultimate hairspray - the curls stayed in amazingly (even in my extensions)! They became looser but i love the results! Soft beautiful waves.

TEASE ME Backcomb in a bottle is fab! It's a sort of sticky powder that is put onto the roots of your hair to create instant volume. You simply separate your hair and sprinkle the powder directly at your root, then use your fingers to activate the volume by lifting and shaking your hair! It's really great for adding extra volume and also works extremely well when using a backcombing brush (if you want super huge hair)!

When i visited the Nicky Clarke Salon in Mayfair for my wonderful 'Gift Experience', the ultra talented @WarrenHolmes cut and styled my hair. He used both TEASE ME and Ultimate Hairspray on my hair. The results were amazing and the curls lasted all day and night!

Hair Raising is a pre-styling product. You spray it in damp/towel dried hair, then after blowdrying your hair it creates substantial lift. It leaves your hair feeling natural - the best part is that it isn't sticky and is completely weightless. It also adds a lovely shine.

Great Body Ultimate Mousse

I love using mousse when using Hot Rollers, if you put mousse close to your roots and all the way to the tips it creates a great look when styling with hot tools, the curls can look very structured after using mousse but once you brush them out (using a wide tooth comb) the results are beautiful. The right mousse will give you amazing volume - and that's exactly what this one does!

I've only ever tried Dermalogica products back in Beauty School, I'm not sure why i haven't tried them since but i love these products! They make your skin feel super soft and moisturised. I will definitely be investing in the full sized tubes.

My favourite is the is the Renewal Lip Complex, this lip treatment is amazing! It's glossy, moisturising and also seems to plump my lips?! It stays on well and is without a doubt my new favorite lip moisturiser and will live along side me from now on.

I liked 1 out of the 3 perfume samples, I'm so fussy with perfume - i love sweet, fresh scents but i really dislike strong floral musky scents. Calypso was my favorite, it was sweet and fresh but unfortunately i wouldn't pay full price (£65 50ml) for this.

Love this colour! It's a beautiful light blue with shimmer. I did notice is took a long time to dry but the results were very pretty.

Leighton Denny Polish ~ Sex Kitten

I've never tried Stila products (not sure why!) but I'm glad i got to try the Smudge Stick - it's beautiful! It has an olive/brown base with a gold hue. Stunning along the upper and lower lash line.

I am extremely impressed with GlossyBox and the service I received. I think it's great that i can try products at the fraction of the retail price to make sure they suit me, although it may also make me buy products i may not have been tempted with before :)

Beautifully Impractical Studded Phone Case

If you know me even a tiny bit, you will know i love studs - i have a serious obsession with almost anything studded or spiked. On my quest for studs and spikes i had an idea to spike my phone! I asked a few phone case designer companies if they would re-create this gorgeous design i had in mind but most told me they wouldn't be able to get hold of the spikes!

That is when i came across MeBlingBling, they were more than happy to build my beautifully impractical phone case! I was so impressed when i got it, it is such a statement piece. Definitely more of a statement piece than anything else as regular use is not advised, but that is the great thing about these cases as they snap on and off, making it easy to change up your phone design whenever you feel like it.

The Best Shampoo For Blondes

Like almost all blondes, I really dislike brassy tones in my blonde hair. This usually occurs a few weeks after having my highlights done. It's caused by the blonde fading, product staining, and also by general everyday elements that can effect your beautiful blonde locks.

Although a subtle 'yellow' toned blonde is not a bad thing, most people do not want that brassy or canary yellow tone.

I have used many shampoo's for blonde hair, some that enhance highlights and others that take out the brassy tones. I have used L'Oreal Expert Shine Blonde Shampoo, which had very minimal results - if any. It just dried my hair out. I do find with most blonde shampoo's that they have a drying effect, so i highly recommend backing it up with a ton of nourishing conditioner after you use.

I recently saw Lee Stafford hair products on offer in Boots, which definitely persuaded my decision to buy it. I hadn't heard much about the Lee Stafford range so I had never thought to buy it before. I picked up the Bleach Blondes shampoo - which has a ProBlonde complex that knocks out brassy and canary yellow tones.

This blonde shampoo is seriously amazing, I wasn't expecting much but I actually had a shock when my hair started to dry after washing! I couldn't believe how ashy it had gone, it had taken out all the brassy tones. Although my hair is still a subtle yellow toned blonde it no longer has any brassy tones, only ash undertones to it.

It's a deep dark purple colour and very thick in consistency. The smell is beautiful, and lasts all day (just like when you've had your hair done at the salon!). I would only recommend using this product when you need to, or you will end up with very ashy toned hair. It's super strong stuff! I'm going to use it every time I see those brassy tones.

Remember not to abuse purple shampoo's or you could end up with a purple hue to your hair (I've seen it on girls before!), unless that's what you like, then by all means over do it :)
If you use purple shampoo's once a week you can end up with a really nice ashy toned colour if you want to remove all yellow.
I also recommend using this product on your extensions if you want them to become more ash also, but foam it up in your hands first before applying to prevent any purple staining. Leave on for about 1 minute. Foxy Locks do have a new Platinum blonde shade which is perfect for ash blonde hair!

My results:

Smokey eyes, nude lips + Mermaid hair...

To create this look I used the Sleek Au Naturel palette on my eyes. Starting with shade 'Taupe' as a base, then i built up 'Cappuccino' on my lids + blended 'Bark' + 'Mineral Earth' into my crease.

Eyelashes: Foxy Lashes

The results were lovely, the eye-shadows themselves were really easy + silky to apply.

I always wear browns on my eyes, so this palette is perfect for me!

On my lips I used Sleek Pout Polish in Bare Minimum, a stunning soft nude.

On my cheeks i used Sleek Blush in Suede.

For my 23rd i took a little trip to China with my boyfriend. It was such a great experience. China was everything i imagined...big, bold + busy!

I wanted to share some photos from my trip, the outfit i wore on my Birthday, the amazing hotel i stayed in + a few sight seeings....

Birthday outfit of the day.

I had the most amazing Green Tea scrub treatment + 1hr massage at the hotel spa...i was so relaxed + the scrub did wonders to my skin.

The Hotel:

We stayed at the Puli Hotel + Spa, an urban designed sanctuary in the centre of the bustling city of Shanghai! I had never seen anything like it before. We stayed in the Junior suite which looked like an apartment in itself! The room boasted lots of space with a separate lounge, dining, + bathroom/vanity area. Everything about the hotel was fabulous!

The huge room divided up by huge sliding screens.

His + Her sinks....i want this is my house now! :)

The bath was lovely, you could lie there overlooking the city or watch the TV which was in the wall straight in-front of you.

We had the most amazing view of the city + JingAn Park (which is slap bang right in the middle of the busy city) It was lovely to see the tranquil greenery + busy streets. The evening view was out-of-this-world with all the flashing lights + big lit up screens!

The hotel send up a bottle of champagne when we arrived which was so lovely of them.

The Puli hotel has the most amazing spa facilities named 'Anantara Spa'. This is where i had my treatments on my Birthday.

The hotel is also equipped with a gym, sauna, steam rooms, jacuzzi, and swimming pool. The pool was beautiful, so relaxing.

Sight Seeing...

The unbelievably huge Louis Vuitton store in Shanghai which sadly was still in construction, but check out the size of it compared to the tall street lamps!

Crazy window cleaners hanging from ropes! Seriously that has to be dangerous...

We had the view of this amazing temple from our hotel room!

The statues were so huge, it was a real experience visiting this beautiful place.

This trip was amazing + i will never forget it.

Back to the real world now :)

Review:

The brushes are extremely soft and very high quality - i have been using Sigma brushes for awhile and have always thought they are very good value for the money!

There is some slight shedding from the brushes, mainly from the larger brushes (F30), but it is not eccessive and after the first wash it practically stops. It is common for more affordable brushes to shed the odd hair every-so-often!

My favorite brush is the Tapered Blending - E40, i use this brush everyday to apply my eyeshadow - it really creates a gorgeous soft, blended effect.

The colour of the case and brush hadles is beautiful, i don't think any other sellers offer this unique colour (or case!) - it really sets it apart from any other brush set.

I would definitely recommend this set as well as the Sigmax face brush kit! If you haven't tried Sigma or have been sceptical then i highly recommend trying them out, they really are great brushes!

China Glaze 'Crackle Glaze' Nail Polish Collection Swatches/Review ~ Amazing!

I received these yesterday and i couldn't be any more amazed with them! They are so fabulous!

China Glaze has just brought out there Crackle Glaze collection, which is an unusual and unique formula which causes the polish to literally crack as it dries. 6 colours to choose from - Black Mesh, Broken Hearted, Cracked Concrete, Crushed Candy, Lightening Bolt + Fault Line.

I am so impressed with this collection, and the best thing is that it's so easy to use! You just swipe it on over a base coat (colour of your choice) then watch the cracks appear.

I did notice that the glossier the nail polish base coat, the better it cracked. I used a China Glaze neon orange under Lightening Bolt and because the neon was a matte polish it hardly made the crackle polish crack.

You can see from this picture the 'crackle' isn't very effective with a matte base. If you use a matte polish, put a top coat over it before applying the crackle.

I love the effect, i love the concept and i love that it takes no time at all! It might not be for everyone but if you like to be a bit different or you love nail art, then these are definitely for you!

Maybelline 'The Eraser' Foundation Review - Ivory 010

I saw the adverts for the new Maybelline 'The Eraser' foundation, i was sucked in immediately and had to try it! I always use Estee Lauder Double Wear but for everyday when I'm at home or not doing much i like to wear a lighter foundation.

It comes with a large round (furry) sponge tip applicator, you need to click the tube quite a few times before any product comes out. The application is soft, it's a little streaky and needs to be done carefully.

I really liked the results, i chose Ivory which i think is the lightest shade. For winter this colour is perfect for me, although it's not as pale as Ivory should be (I never get the lightest shades of foundation).

It covered my blemishes well considering it's so light and sheer. It feels quite greasy on the skin but once set with powder it looks great and doesn't look greasy as the day goes on.

I have found the perfect red nail polish for this Valentines day!

Sultry red from Nubar is a gorgeous raspberry toned red with shimmer. So classic and elegant.

The application was perfect, really even and pigmented. I only needed one coat! One of the nicest applications from a nail polish i have had for a long time.

MAC Peacocky Kissable Lipcolour ~ Woo Me + Enchantee Swatches/Review

I wasn't sure which shades to get from MAC's new 'Peacocky' Kissable Lipcolour collection but i decided on Woo Me + Enchantee, they both seemed to be my kind of colours from the website swatches.

Enchantee is a lovely blue toned pink, very similar to Viva Glam Gaga but in a lipgloss version. Can be built up to be a lot brighter but i prefer to keep it more subtle. The colour is very pretty and quite unusual.

Above: Woo Me

Woo Me is a lovely pink toned nude. For me it's the perfect nude as the pink tones are very apparent. I hate to look washed out with nude lips but this colour was gorgeous.

Both applied well but needed a few coats due to the sponge applicator not holding a lot of product. The application was smooth but a little streaky. It also didn't hold well around the inner parts of lips due to more moisture so they don't last too long. Apart from that i am actually pleased with them, they are very pigmented and the colours are perfect.

Stunning Alice + Olivia Hollis Dress plus my new US address!

First up i want to apologise for neglecting my blog recently, Christmas and New Year were so busy i had no time to blog!

I recently purchased a beautiful Alice + Olivia 'Hollis' Dress from Bluefly.com. I had been searching high and low for this dress but it appeared to be sold out everywhere, since celebs like Kourtney Kardashian had been seen wearing it...but I finally found it and it was in the sale! They had one size small left - I couldn't believe my luck, it was obviously meant to be....or so I thought...

After getting to the checkout I realised Bluefly don't ship to the UK! It seemed they shipped almost everywhere else other than the UK which was disappointing. I read their policy and they say that you can set up an account with a freight forwarding company and then place an order on their site. I was confused but intrigued, i did my research to find the cheapest company, that's when I came across Shipito.com. They offered no set up fees just a deposit for your first shipment.

Basically if a US website doesn't ship to you, you can have it sent to your US address then forwarded to your home address. You pay $8.50 for each shipment that comes in + the shipping cost, they offer many different shipping costs. To have my dress shipped by USPS priority it cost $26 - which is pretty good for international shipping.

I was a little sceptical but i read some reviews and decided this was the best service...so i ordered my A+O dress, had it shipped to my USA address and within a few days it was in my box. Another great thing is that many US companies offer free shipping to US addresses so you don't have to pay twice most of the time.

When it arrives at Shipito they email you (it also shows in your online account), they then weigh and measure it and give you the shipping quotes. After paying it gets sent - very simple!

Back to the dress....

This dress screams my name! It is so beautiful and quite unique. It retailed for $495 on the Alice+Olivia website but i manged to pick it up for $261.60 in the sale here, which granted is still quite a lot but i think it's worth it - the craftsmanship around the shoulders is amazing and one-of-a-kind!

I am so happy with my purchase and i am even happier that now i can buy things from the US even if the website doesn't ship to the UK. Shipito also give you addresses in China, Hong Kong, Japan (coming soon) and other US destinations.

I am seriously in love with these lipstick pencils! The texture, pigment and colours are just amazing! I hope Eyeko bring out a neutral pink as i would buy it in a second. They apply so smoothly and easily for long lasting glossy lipstick that is very moisturising.

Love love love all of these, Shoreditch does look a little lighter in the photo but it's a very pretty pink and can be built up to create a much darker colour.

Nubar Baby Blue - Perfect Chanel RIVA Dupe!

The Beautiful YSL Ovale Arty Ring - Turquoise

It feels like forever ago i ordered my beautiful Arty Ovale ring from Saks, it has laterally only been 10 days - that's how long it look from the US to here (UK), which was lovely and quick as i was counting down everyday!

My trusty hairbrush that has been with me for years! I love this brush and use it everyday. I do brush my hair when it's wet, i know many people will say this is very bad for your hair - but personally i do not agree. My hair is like a birds nest after i wash it so i have to brush, if i use a comb it hurts a lot. Maybelline ColorSensational Pearl Lipsticks Swatches + Review

I picked these up after seeing the advert the other night, the colour range looked amazing so i couldn't resist - i bought Kiss Pearl and Delicate Pearl.

They are quite sheer lipsticks (especially Delicate Pearl) so they need building up, unless you like a subtle application. They are very shimmery and the colours look gorgeous on. I find that some Maybelline lipsticks can be quite drying but these aren't at all - in fact they are quite moisturising.

These will definitely be my 'go to' lipsticks now!

I picked mine up from Boots as they were all sold out at Superdrug.

Limited Edition Sleek 'Good Girl' Palette Swatches

The Good Girl palette is one of Sleek's Limited Editions, so if pink is your thing then you better be quick!

This palette is absolutely beautiful, but is it wearable for everyday use? No not really. For me anyway, i am blonde with blue eyes so i would just look like barbie (i get called than enough without the pink!). I think it is lovely mixed with other darker colours or for costume make-up.

These palettes are only £5.99 so they are fab for your collection as they don't cost the earth and if you happen to ever need a pink or red shadow you have it.

I know i will probably never wear most of these colours but Lychee and Meringue are beautiful - they are the colours i would wear in the inner corners of my eye or use them as a highlight.
I also love the names they chose for the colours, so girly and pretty.

NOTD: Perfectly Peach Nails - Urban Outfitters Nail Polish

Ok so it's actually called Tangerine but to me it's the perfect peach colour! They should definitely re-name it! Strangely enough it is advertised as Tangerine but states Matte Orange on the bottle - confusing! But none-the-less it's a beautiful shade.

It is from Urban Outfitters nail polish range. I had no idea they did nail polish until i was browsing the site the other day.

The colour is amazing - i cannot stop looking at my nails. So pretty and girly.
The application was sheer but built up with 2 coats - 3 coats would have made for a perfect finish.

I love that it dries matte also!

I picked up 3 colours - Matte Orange 4 (Tangerine), Lilac 1 (Mauve) and Mint 1. All are extremely gorgeous pastels.

I am extremely happy with the polishes and the packaging is fabulous, i love the line effects and the rubber top.

Nubar 2010 Top Coat Swatches + Review

This top coat is absolutely beautiful - i have so many nail polishes but i have never seen anything like this. I have glittery nail polishes, but this is something different - it has flecks of pearlescent flakes mixed in it. It reminds of that Goldslick vodka with the gold particles. So pretty!

I applied two coats over a french manicure for a stunning but subtle effect. It reflects the light creating a multitude of beautiful colours including pink, green, gold, orange, blue and many more. Almost like the colour of petrol.

All these photos are taken in natural lighting with no flash to get the true colours.

Below i added 4 coats of 2010 over Nubars Peacock Feathers, using a dark colour really sets off the topcoat making it even more amazing in my opinion! Even after applying 4 coats it dried quickly and built up nicely.

Depending on the angle and lighting the topcoat changes colour.

Below i applied two coats over Chanel 527 - i really loved the effect it created.

This topcoat is a must have! I know it has already sold out on the website but has just been re-stocked, so i would highly recommend getting your 'claws' on it now :)
